Just a reminder of what our attendance policy is...
Also, if you are going to miss a practice due to a school activity (such as choir, dance company, link crew, stunt council etc.) you must notify me a week in advance via e-mail. If you don't it will be counted as an absence. It is very hard to plan for practices when people are gone and it is short notice.
Absences
Each Squad member will be entitled to 5 absences per sport season (April-November for Fall and November-March for Winter) The absence count will start back at zero at the beginning of each season.
1. Absences can occur at practices, games, performances, competitions, designated events, or kid’s clinics.
2. Only one absence can occur each day.
3. All Members are expected to make arrangements around our scheduled events. This includes Doctor appointments, work, babysitting etc. Absences are given not taken.
4. Even if an absence is excused through the school, it will still be counted as an absence in the spirit program, because we do not have “excused” or “unexcused” absences ( any sickness is counted as an absence).
5. There is never a time when a student or parent should consider missing school instead of extra-curricular activities. The cheerleading program emphasizes school first. In fact, if you miss a full day of school you are not allowed to participate in any school sponsored activities after school (CHSAA Rule).
6. Long term illnesses will be dealt with on an individual basis
7. EXTREME family emergencies require parent notification as soon as possible. Some examples include: family death, heart attacks, funerals etc.
Tardies
A Tardy can occur when a member is more than ten minutes late or leaves more than 10 minutes early. This includes practice or any other scheduled events.
3 tardies = 1 absence
Consequences of Multiple Absences (per season)
Second and Third absence= Warning from Coach to Student. Student benched from one activity.
Fourth absence= Parent Notification. Student benched from one activity.
Fifth absence= Meeting with parents, student, and coach.
Sixth absence= Dismissal from the team.
If your daughter is going to be absent, we need to receive a phone call no later the 12:00 noon, so that we can plan for practice accordingly.
If you are injured, you are still expected to come to practice so that you will not miss valuable information regarding cheers, routines, etc. If you are injured, you must get treatment from the trainer.**All treatment (including taping and icing) must be completed by 3:30pm.
